Spam Hammer
Summary
Spam Hammer is a tool we have created using graylisting to help limit spam. This can be enabled in the mail section of the control panel.
What is Spam Hammer
Spam Hammer utilizes graylisting to help customers limit email received from spammers. Graylisting is when email is temporarily rejected and then if it is sent again after sufficient time it will be accepted. Normally spammers do not try to resend email which is rejected as they are sending to thousands of email addresses.
How do I enable Spam Hammer
Although Spam Hammer will stop many spam emails from reaching you, there is a possibility of blocking legitimate emails from reaching your account as well. Please take this into consideration before enabling Spam Hammer.
- In your Bluehost.com cPanel, find the Email and select Spam Hammer.
- Select by either domain if you want Spam Hammer on all emails for that domain or select email address only.
- Click Save.
If the domain has SpamExperts service, the domain is grayed from using Spam Hammer because SpamExperts mail servers are already whitelisted.
